Renaissance Festival

Image
We went with the Lytles to the Rennaissance Festival and it was AMAZING! Sooooo much to experience there! We met people with stuffed real wolves, a kind, but scary looking orc who gave out free trinkets, ate turkey legs, fries and popcorn, and watched multiple shows; sword fighting, magic, dangerous, glass blowing, tight rope walking, and even a jousting! We will definitely be coming back next year!!

Homeschool Studies

Image
We decided to study the beginning of our nation/government this year for history and we are so excited! Elections are next year and so Mom felt to focus on this in preparation. To encourage poem memorization, Mom purchase water bottle stickers that the kiddos chose and they are doing so well! On another note, we put the kitchen outside for a "mud kitchen" and they have LOVED it! Lastly, Mom has the kiddos write in their journals weekly and Melanie wrote such a tender journal entry that made Mom's day! So grateful for these kiddos!!

Gymnastics/School time

Image
Melanie has been in gymnastics for a year now and has worked very hard to move into level 2 and she made it! She started working on the beam and its been so amazing to watch her learn and grow. One of the coolest things about homeschooling is that we can all support each other in our pursuits while continuing our education. The kiddos are doing so well doing their homework while we are at gymnastics- so proud of them!!

Library

These kiddos LOVE to go to the library! I had to post these pics because I thought it was way too cute how they were positioned reading in the library!

Nannie 2 turns 92!

Image
Today we celebrated my Nannie turning 92! What a blessing she is to our lives! Despite the loss of her dear husband, she continues to help, encourage, and love those around her and have a great attitude! We are so grateful to live nearby to have her in our lives.

Trip to the Orchard

Image
We went to Stovers with our friends the Lytles to pick peaches and apples! There were so many types to choose from! We tried every type of apple and picked the ones we liked! The next day we made some AMAZING apple bundt cakes with caramel sauce and shared them with our neighbors and then visited Nannie and shared some with her!

Homeschool Journey Resumes!

Image
After a year in public school and despite loving many aspects of it, God re-opened our hearts again to homeschool. He blessed us with a HUGE amount of curriculum through a friend of mine and, with Ben building an office in the basement, we were able to turn his old office upstairs into Mom's office/homeschool room. We are so incredibly grateful for the freedom to homeschool! We love the quality curriculum that instills important values and provokes wonderful conversations that help us to learn and grow together. We missed this time together and we are so happy to be able to do it again!
